This week kicked off with one of the biggest trades I have ever seen with the Indianapolis Colts shipping a 1st round pick to get power back Trent Richardson from the Cleveland Browns. With that kind of a start, you know it’s going to be a wild week. With 7 teams looking to advance to 3-0 with the Chiefs and 8 teams searching for their first win lets not mince words and get started with the predictions.
St Louis Rams @ Dallas Cowboys: 19 to 36 Dallas…. Experts are giving the Ram’s defense way to much credit; saying they keep Dallas’s high strung offense to 17 points or less! This team gave up 31 to an ailing Falcons team and 24 to a one dimensional Cardinals team. Cortland Finnegan may be at the backside of his career at this point, too much fighting I guess. I look for Dez Bryant to abuse him with Dwayne Allen playing fantasy surprise in clean up. St Louis simply cannot keep up with Dallas so this is easy for me.
Detroit Lions @ Washington Redskins: 31 to 34 Washington… I’ve been buying into the Redskins all season and quite frankly they have butt f***ed me. But I refuse to give up. Lets face it, their defense has been pretty awful, but then again they are starting rookies at both safety and cornerback so its expected. I think the offense finally stops spinning its wheels. Detriot is going to be without Reggie Bush which is actually good news cause I think it’d be a terrible idea to risk losing him. With Bush out, Bell takes over who is good on the goal line but… well not a speed back. I think because of the Runningback situation, they lose the game. They’re going to miss Bush in the receiving and running game.
Green Bay Packers @ Cincinnati Bengals: 28 to 27 Green Bay… This will be a good game, good match ups for the Packers offense and the Bengals defense. I think Cincinnati’s defensive line and pass rush keep this close but I do not think Andy Dalton has what it takes to out duel Mr. Rodgers. He will abuse these LB’s in coverage. I do however think the Packers miss Eddie Lacy today. James Starks will be decent enough to help the cause and the Pack win though.
San Diego Chargers @ Tennessee Titans: 24 to 28 Tennessee… Look, I actually have changed my mind on San Diego and Phillip Rivers a lot this season. He has looked comfortable and concise in the pocket thus far playing FAR better then recent years. The problem is San Diego’s pass defense has be abismal. Ranking last in the league, actually. While the Titans are actually one of the few ‘ground and pound’ teams left, if it was needed, for once I feel like Jake Locker could make plays in the passing game effectively. That’s the only difference today, look for CJ2K to have a big day.
Cleveland Browns @ Minnesota Vikings: 3 to 27 Vikings… 2 words, Brian Hoyer. Wow, Hoyer was cut by 3 teams in a matter of a year do we really expect anything out of him with possibly the worst receiving core in the NFL? No, he couldn’t even work with Fitz. So Adrian Peterson works this actually suprisingly good defense to death and Minnesota takes home its first W of the year.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New England Patriots: 17 to 30… Yes, New England has looked troubled on offense thus far. Yes, Tampa Bay’s defense did make Drew Brees look pedestrian last week. But, I think Tom Brady is pissed off from last weeks mess of a game. I wouldn’t like to be the team that Tom Brady took his frustrations out on. Plus, he has historically had Revis’s number. I think New England picks it up and their defensive front 7 rattles Josh Freeman hard. Mike Glennon’s on notice soon.
Arizona Cardinals @ New Orleans Saints: 35 to 31 Arizona… If you have a player from these teams on your fantasy team, start them. Well unless their a runningback for the Saints, that’s always a no-no. Upset in the making. The Saints famed offense was put to shame last week, look for a pretty good Arizona Cardinals D to implore that same formula. While D is going to work Carson Palmer takes out his aggression out on a surprisingly mediocre Saint’s D. Surprising of course because they were supposed to be trash. Drew Brees will get his but the better defense wins when Pat Peterson takes one to the house.
New York Giants @ Carolina Panthers: 20 to 16 G Men… I really have little faith in Cam Newton’s awareness. If there is one thing that would put his game over the top it would be his ability to cycle through his reads better. I think for that reason the Giants can keep this one a low scoring game and Eli is only required to make a few plays (which is a good idea cause he is a turnover machine this season) to keep the G Men on top. Carolina’s front 7 will have a day if David Wilson keeps running scared.
Houston Texans @ Baltimore Ravens: 24 to 27 Baltimore… I’d like to consider this a upset pick. Baltimore hasn’t been playing great lately but I like them moving forward. Rookie Matt Elam (future Ed Reed in the making) is making his first NFL start so I figure he has a few lapses but I think Baltimore’s pass rush gets stronger week in and week out. That should neutralize Houstons infamous play action game and keep this one close. I think the playmaker that puts it over the top is Benard Pierce, Ray Rice’s backup. God do I love this guy, if he had the moves of Ray Rice he’d be a sure fire pro bowler in my eyes (well once he starts). His power will kill the clock and put Baltimore on top. Andre Johnson will have a day but it will not be enough.
Atlanta Falcons @ Miami Dolphins: 27 to 37 Miami… The name of the game is injuries. Atlanta has a lot of huge holes due to injuries. Most notably, the offensive line, a huge spot to be missing with Cameron Wake coming to town. Sam Baker’s replacement will be thrown to the dogs and ripped to shred. With time limited and Wide Receivers will have to get out fast, I don’t think Roddy White will be able to, so it’s all on Julio and Tony… Too much pressure for me. Add in the fact that Miami is clicking on offense and Atlanta is limping. Upset in the making for the early Superbowl favorite Falcons. I do expect Jaquizz to get his in the replacement start though.
Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets: 20 to 19 Buffalo…In the words of Chris Berman, NOBODY CIRCLES THE WAGONS LIKE THE BUFFALO BILLS! They are simply the better team, especially with Manuel playing like a 1st round pick and Mario Williams FINALLY stepping up. If Gilmore and Byrd played in this one I believe this one becomes more of a blow out. Look for Spiller to have a day.
Indianapolis Colts @ San Francisco 49ers: 21 to 20 Indy… I love Indy moving forward. They are a few offensive lineman from being an unstoppable force. With the 49ers looking very vunerable on offense last week, I think it is possible to stop them. I think Trent gets his first TD of the season bullying a strong 49ers defense. With the treat of the run keeping the 49ers in check, Andy Luck throws free and TY Hilton catches a game winner. Calling it.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Seattle Seahawks: 0 to 27 Seahawks…. Who’s on offense for the Jaguars? And who’s on defense for the Seahawks (strongest defense by far this season)? Not even a close game, boring with lots of running.
Chicago Bears @ Pittsburgh Steelers: 31 to 17… Todd Haley said he was going to mix it up for Pittsburgh this week. Pittsburgh should mix it up on him and cut him right before the game. Steelers offense is predictable and terrible. 3rd and long is always a draw, little change in route trees throughout game, and no power run game. Not Steelers football. Should have signed Bears coordinator who has been doing a lot right with Jay Cutler. Look for Forte to bounce back but Cutler to tear it up overall.
